If you have long term plans for expansion and growth for your company then this will help you get a company grant. More than likely the government isn't going to try to issue a grant for a company that plans to be in business for a year or so, because that will not help a city or community grow. The government wants to help build companies that will be around for a long time and help the community.

The startup capital can play a very important role in acquiring a grant. If you ask for too much money to start your company, the government may shy away from giving you the grant. If you ask for an amount that is too low, they might think that you are not going to do what you are supposed to do with the money because it takes a good amount of money to start a business.
