Grants Office Annual Open House: Take some time from your hectic schedule, sample some decadent treats, and chat with friends while we celebrate our funding successes. DVD: PURDY: "If you are in prison anywhere in the U.S. with an infant, this is where you want to be," says one Purdy inmate. This DVD looks at a unique program allowing young inmate mothers the opportunity to raise their children while incarcerated. Purdy follows five offender mothers as they apply for the opportunity to keep their infants with them in prison with the goal of lowering the recidivism rate. She received her EdD and BA in history/education, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and her MA from Stanford University School of Education. Caps Weekly Student Workshop Series - Transitions: A Workshop for Veterans In honor of Veteran's Day, a workshop will be offered to help student veterans understand and manage the challenges that are commonly experienced when transitioning to college life. David Saling: a retrospective art exhibition: Eastern Washington University Gallery of Art is pleased to present David Saling: a retrospective, an exhibition of paintings and drawings by local artist and EWU alumni David Saling. Saling received a BFA from Eastern in 2002, and a MFA from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 2006. Following the completion of his MFA, he returned to the Spokane area and taught in the Department of Fine Arts at Spokane Falls Community College. Saling passed away in July 2011, at the age of 51.
